What a wonderful tribute. It put me in mind of my own father, who died in 2017. Like your father, he lived a life in service, and also mentored young midshipmen at the Naval Academy (even though he was Army). Like you and your dad, he was a Republican and I am a Democrat. We had a healthy respect for honest disagreement and debate, and he never thought less of me, even when I voted for Obama instead of McCain. (wink!) Thank you for posting this lovely piece. I'm sure your parents are together, smiling as they read this.
fabulous piece
Exceptionally moving and well written. Your parents would be proud.
Very moving piece...
Thank you, Darcy, for your service (to the memory of your parents). And for your father's military service.
A wonderful post. I have shared it with friends. A real tribute to what Memorial Day means, why we commemorate it as we do.
Well-written, insightful and exposes the truth. If only we could circle back to these basic tenets that it seemed, not too long ago, we lived by.
